• House hunting: connected with a real-estate agent and got our application prepped, so it’s ready to go when we actually start seeing places. C and I got it done in one evening and only almost murdered each other twice.
  • One upside of DST is I get to see sunrises again when I do my reading in the early morning. DST can still get wrecked though; it’s irredeemable.
  • March break at work started out all chill with lots of parents out of the office, but then somehow ramped back up to its usual level of busy by Wed. I swung back into my hyper-focus mode while trying to complete a side quest/project that I know would a) benefit many, b) never get prioritized.
    • I ran a sleep deficit and a stress surplus, which meant that I…
    • Fell back into a mindless pattern of playing Helldivers before bed. It’s fun and all, but in hindsight, I wish I had just gone to bed earlier.
      • A realization I had is that perhaps I tend to do this, because video games have a quick, clear, and almost guaranteed success state (mission completion). When every project at work drags and my work hours end without a feeling of accomplishment, I reach for the thing that’s designed to provide me with those dopamine hits.
    • It’s not all bad. I learned a bunch of things (and filed a ticket with MongoDB folks). It’s just not a sustainable way to operate.
  • An exciting food related discovery that is probably a discovery to just me: you can get smoked oysters in cans at grocery stores, and they’re both high in protein and actually delicious. While I’ve had them raw, I’ve also dissociated during the process. Having them cooked and coming in relatively cheap canned packages is a nice option for topping up a low-protein dinner or just as a snack. I used to use sardines for this, but C is really sensitive to their smell (I swear I could be eating them outside and they’d text me “are you eating sardines rn? quit it!”).
  • Fitness
    • Just the one yoga class. Still enjoying it. You can tell I’m serious now because I got $10 straps for my mat.
    • My usual three runs. I’ve been finding it easier to do 10k. It used to be something I’d do once every few weeks and be hurting for a couple days after. Every run this week has been a 10k and I feel ok. It helps to have found a few route options that are flat. Oh, and I always stop to take pictures. I’m not sorry.
  • Watched
    • Damsel. May have been last week, not this one. Entertaining! Throughout the movie I kept trying to figure out who Millie Bobby Brown looks like. I’m not 100% happy with the result, but I landed on: Natalie Portman x Olivia Rodrigo x Dua Lipa.
    • Gordon Ramsey: Uncharted S1E4. The Hawaiian ep. More oysters and other delicious seafood yum!
