(Better late, and short, than skipped?)
- Good/bad news: very few new places on the housing market that fit our criteria. Made for a more relaxed work week, but also for more worrying about when (if!) we’ll find something we like before having to settle.
- Shake up at work, which affects the expectations around my role and reporting structure.
- Switched over to having muesli/granola for lunch, which seems to have fixed my stress butter problem.
- Tested out the running track nearby (header pic). Both fun and gravel in my shoes were had.
- Tuned the home media center setup. Unfortunately, discovered that Plex has playback issues with some subtitle types and audio. Found this helpful post that describes the problem and workarounds (which, because I’m writing this on the following Tuesday, will have worked).
- Discovered blueutil, and used it in combination with BetterTouchTool to automatically re-pair my keyboard between my work and personal Macs when they go to sleep.
Watched:
- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. I’ve never seen any Indy films, and C hasn’t seen any for a long time, so we decided to try it. AI-youth-ified Harrison Ford is creepy. They somehow managed to make Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character unlikable. But we were entertained, so mission accomplished.
- The Vow. Finished season 1 + S2E1-4. I binged! The mindfuckery of it all is fascinating. The smoothness with which ESP/NXIVM went from a benign training program to an emotionally and physically abusive cult makes me think there are probably many other NXIVMs out there today, and we just don’t know. I’ve got India Oxenberg’s Seduced lined up next.
- The Year from Space 2022 (video deleted, unfortunately 😔). I’m a sucker for Planet Earth type of storytelling and satellite footage. The Russian invasion segments were pretty hard to watch, though.
Tunes (both from The Vow):
I suppose one last snowfall in April is obligatory. It made for a very indoor kinda week, except for Sunday, which lived up to its name and allowed for a sunny, enjoyable, and easy bike ride with K+L.
